Initially based in London, UK, around supporting the Tubeworkers' Strike 09-11 Jun 09, this is group for people who would offer practical and political support to the RMT strikers in their dispute with TfL/LUL. We anticipate also supporting the CWU strikers in their dispute with Royal Mail, and other workers in struggle against the attacks on our livelihoods, consequent upon the economic crisis.

“As a result the coming era of public sector austerity might not only witness large scale job cuts, but also an ongoing 'workplace guerrilla war' marked by waves of major public sector strikes and regular bouts of unrest.

The public sector has yet to feel the full impact of the recession, and the resultant bloodbath in the public finances. The CIPD's current estimate is that the fiscal squeeze implied by government plans will result in a total of 350,000 job cuts in the public sector overall between 2010/11 and 2014/15. This will be preceded by around 30,000 job cuts in local authorities in the next year.”

A Product of Participation

This isn't a conventional website where only a webmaster or admin team can make changes – it's an Open Collaborative Workspace Website, to which anybody and everybody is invited to contribute.

To Add and Edit pages and content, all you need to do is:

1. Create a PBworks account

• use the 'create an account' link in the 'To join this workspace' box on the right
• login to your new PBworks account

2. Join the tubeworkerssupportgroup workspace

• use the 'join this workspace' link in the 'To edit this page' box on the right 

3. Click the 'Edit' tab at the top to edit the pages

• it's basically like writing an email or a word processing document – quick-&-easy 'what you see is what you get' web page editing for everyone
• there's a 'create a new page' link on the right hand side if you'd like to start a new page
